Anton Yang is a trade economist whose primary research focuses on the empirical and spatial patterns of supply and demand in structural models. His recent research and teaching focus on the intersections of spatial economics and agricultural, resource, and environmental economics. He is a research associate at the Tobin Center for Economic Policy at Yale University and a visiting scholar at the Monetary and Capital Markets Department (MCM) of the International Monetary Fund. Anton obtained his PhD from Purdue University, where he also holds an affiliated teaching and research associate position. Before obtaining his PhD, he was an international economist at the U.S. International Trade Commission, where he contributed to studies on the Trans-Pacific Partnership. His research at Yale follows two main pathways: analyzing global natural resource distributions using satellite data and studying equilibrium models by integrating geospatial structures with industrial organization econometrics. His joint research was awarded the 2023 CEPR Larger Research Grant, funded by the UK government.
