Magalí Bazzano

Project Manager

Magalí Bazzano joined Yale University in 2023, initially supporting various initiatives established and managed by the Office of the Vice Provost for Research. Today, she is fully devoted to the Yale Center for Geospatial Solutions, supporting the center’s continued development. She is integral to the functioning of the center, overseeing and streamlining a wide range of operations.  She ensures that all activities within the center run efficiently by aligning team efforts with strategic objectives, and providing consistent support to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.  In collaboration with leadership, Magalí helps drive operational improvements and ensures the recruitment of the necessary talent to meet the center’s dynamic needs. One of her first major accomplishments was bringing the center’s digital presence to life through the development and launch of its website, which went live on February 19, 2024. She continues to shape and maintain the site in collaboration with the media team, ensuring it reflects the center’s evolving work.

Before joining Yale University, Magalí gained valuable experience as a scientist and manager at a fast-paced biotech startup, where her passion for project management was first ignited.  She also served as a research assistant at both the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station.  In addition, she taught Biology and Ecology as an adjunct lecturer at the University of New Haven.

Magalí graduated with an MS and BS in Environmental Science from the University of New Haven and earned a second BS in English/Spanish translation from the Profesorado Superior de Lenguas Vivas in Salta, Argentina. Her master’s research was focused on measuring dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) present in Spartina alterniflora in the vicinity of salt marsh dieback areas in Branford, Connecticut.  The study evaluated DMSP as a potential indicator of stress in S. alterniflora before signs of stress were visible.  As part of her research, she used ArcGIS to create Kriging prediction maps of DMSP concentrations at the study sites.  During this time, she earned a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems from the University of New Haven.

Outside of Yale, Magalí is a part-time ballroom dance instructor, passionate about helping students build confidence through dance. She continuously hones her expertise through ongoing training, regular lessons, and professional certifications.
