LANDIS-II: A Toolkit Modeling Approach for Predicting Future Forest Patterns, Interactions, and Sustainable Planning
This event has passed.
New developments in forest science, landscape ecology, quantitative ecology, computer sciences, geospatial statistics, geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing technologies, and decision-support systems have provided opportunities for developing forest landscape models (FLMs)that are increasingly valuable for prediction of long-term forest dynamics and sustainable management.
Dr. Weimin Xi will present an overview of LANDIS-II, a widely used spatially interactive FLM with case studies of the model at different forested regions. He will also discuss limitations of FLMs, challenges of developing LANDIS-II, and its implications in a changing climate.
