An Introduction to UAVs + UAV Lidar Collection and Processing

Join us for a hands-on workshop on uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) and their applications in research.

Participants will:

  • Learn the fundamentals of UAVs, including main components, types, and advantages/limitations
  • Explore UAV payloads such as RGB, multispectral, hyperspectral, thermal, and lidar sensors
  • Take a deeper dive into UAV lidar—covering mission planning, data collection, data processing, and post-processing

The workshop includes both classroom instruction and a UAV flight session, giving participants practical experience with UAV lidar workflows.

Dates: Friday, September 19

Time: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm (lunch provided)
Locations: Earth Observation Lab (21 Sachem St, Room 119) & Marsh Hall (for UAV flights)
