Melissa Halstead is a Science Writer Consultant for the Yale Center for Geospatial Solutions. She is a science communicator who specializes in translating complex scientific research into accessible content. She earned her Master of Environmental Science from the Yale School of the Environment and studied Geoscience at Vanderbilt University.
Prior to joining YCGS, Melissa worked as a contractor in the role of Science Communication Liaison and Writer/Editor for the U.S. National Science Foundation Directorate for Geosciences and currently serves as the Content Developer and Writer for the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. Her work spans feature stories, outreach and educational materials, congressional reports, social media campaigns, and museum exhibitions. Through this work, she supports science communication and public engagement across a wide range of audiences.
