🌿 Last month, Yale Environmental Leadership & Training Initiative hosted a two-day workshop titled “Integrating Forest and Carbon Monitoring and Training in Tropical Landscape Conservation and Restoration Projects.” Yale Center for Geospatial Solutions staffs, affiliates, and summer interns had the opportunity to participate in this insightful and impactful event (Photo 7).
🌲 Day 1 took place at The Forest School at the Yale School of the Environment’s Great Mountain Forest, where our Lab Manager, Andrew Gillreath-Brown, and affiliated PhD student, Jacob Peters, led a hands-on drone demonstration—showcasing how aerial imagery and field data are collected using drone technology (Photos 1-4)
🏫 Day 2 was held on Yale University’s main campus. Our Executive Director, Jennifer Marlon, introduced the mission and vision of Yale Center for Geospatial Solutions (Photo 5), and Associate Research Scientist, Nadia Zikiou, presented on advancing biomass estimation with high-resolution LiDAR data (Photo 6). This also marked Nadia’s final official presentation representing YCGS. We are deeply grateful for her outstanding contributions and wish her continued success as she embarks on the next chapter of her career.👏🌟
