Andrew Gillreath-Brown, PhD, is the YCGS Lab and Technology Manager, where he oversees and advises on geospatial research projects, provides software and hardware support, and offers training in remote sensing and geoinformatics. He is an experienced geospatial data scientist with expertise in GIS, remote sensing, AI-driven modeling, spatial statistics, and complex systems. His interdisciplinary research spans climate science, hydrology, agriculture, and human-environment interactions, leveraging advanced computational techniques to analyze complex geospatial and environmental datasets.
Andrew holds a PhD in Anthropology and Archaeology from Washington State University and a Master of Science in Applied Geography from the University of North Texas. He has over a decade of experience in geospatial analysis, machine learning, data science, working with satellite images, and developing models for climate reconstruction, hydrological processes, and environmental change. He has contributed to research at institutions such as the Yale School of the Environment, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Max Planck Institute for Geoanthropology, and Santa Fe Institute. Passionate about education and collaboration, he has taught courses, led workshops, and developed user guides to support researchers and students.
