Kavya Agarwal

Graduate Researcher, Earth & Planetary Sciences

Kavya is a master’s student in the Geophysics group within the Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences at Yale University. Her work combines scientific machine learning and physics-based modeling to study geodynamic processes and large-scale environmental systems. She builds physics-informed neural networks to model ocean tracer transport and develops numerical simulations to investigate lithospheric instabilities and plate tectonics. She is broadly interested in the intersection of physical modeling, data science, and planetary-scale systems.

She completed her undergraduate degree in Earth Sciences at IIT Kanpur, where she worked on experimental and computational geophysical modeling as well as geospatial data analysis.

Outside of research, Kavya enjoys photography, occasional running, biking, and table tennis, and enjoys building visual and interactive tools that make complex scientific ideas more accessible. She maintains a personal website at kavyaagarwal2001.github.io
