Our Remote Sensing Supervisor, Austin Madson, PhD, recently led a drone demonstration for students in the Yale Institute for Biospheric Studies (YIBS) Summer Undergraduate Research in the Environmental Sciences (SURES) program at the Earth Observation Lab.
Students were introduced to the use of drones in environmental research and learned how to collect data using LiDAR, multispectral, thermal, and RGB sensors.
The Earth Observation Lab is equipped with a range of advanced drone platforms—including the DJI Matrice 350 RTK, DJI Matrice 4E, DJI P4 Multispectral, and DJI Mini 4K—along with LiDAR, multispectral, thermal, and RGB camera systems.
